Blockchain is a shared, digital ledger that records transactions across a network of computers. It is decentralized, meaning no one person or entity has total control over the data.
During the Blockchain in Business program, you will be introduced to the basic concepts behind blockchain technology with an emphasis on its use in payment systems and business information management. This will differ significantly from the typical mainstream-press presentations that focus on speculative trading. One of the key outcomes of this program is an understanding of the real-world impact of this technology, particularly how emerging "stablecoin" payment systems may replace credit and debit cards.
Students will get hands-on experience in a private Ethereum blockchain, which is separate from the public Ethereum network.
