Journalism is an academic study concerned with the collection and editing of news or the management of a news medium.
This program will teach students the foundations of journalism through classes in Coppee Hall on journalism ethics, photography, data journalism, reporting, mobile journalism and law. Students will learn the basics of good multimedia reporting and will report stories – with accompanying video and social media posts to be used in a website students will create.
Participants will experience ethical, fact-checked, local journalism presented in context. This program will spark an appreciation for the necessity of journalism in a healthy democracy.
